From leafy greens to growing babies, microbes are on the move! Join Penny and Marloes to explore how the bacteria on our food travel into our bodies, and how the gut microbiome might shape healthy pregnancies. It’s a lively look at the tiny passengers that tag along with every bite—and beyond.

From salads to spinach, berries to broccoli — each bite comes with a side of billions of microbes. But where do these critters come from, and what happens when you eat them? Join Penny as we track the wild microbial journey from farm to fork… and then to your gut.

Does pregnancy change the bacteria in the gut? Can the bacteria in the gut actually contribute to a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby? Can we manipulate the bacteria and if so, how? This talk will take you on a tour through the gut microbiome in pregnancy touching on what we know and what we are not sure about.
