Learn about the role of sexually transmitted infections in male fertility, and how ovarian factors may be harnessed to enhance fertility in females.

Do infections affect reproductive health?

Dr Emily Bryan (Postdoctoral Researcher, Queensland University of Technology)
The role of sexually transmitted infections, like Chlamydia, in infertility is not well understood, even though there are millions of these infections acquired every day. Emily is unravelling the effect of STIs on sperm health and male fertility.

Emily completed her PhD in 2018 on how Chlamydia effects testicular health. She is now a post-doctoral researcher, applying that knowledge to develop methods for stopping the negative impact of STIs on male fertility.

Enhancing fertility in 'ewe' and me

Dr Kelly Walton (Senior Research Fellow, The University of Queensland)
The ovaries are much more than egg factories. The ovary produces growth factors that are important for fertility and also healthy ageing in females. Learn about how Kelly's team is refashioning ovarian factors to enhance fertility in many mammals.

Dr Kelly Walton is a Senior Research Fellow in the School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Queensland. Kelly is a mid-career researcher who specialises in refashioning ovarian factors to enhance female fertility and healthy ageing.
