Composting Textile Waste into a Sustainable Future

In Rangi's presentation, she will address the environmental harm caused by fast fashion, with textiles ending up in landfills, emitting greenhouse gases, and contaminating soil and water with toxic chemicals. As sustainability researchers, they're developing a composting system to turn textile waste into useful compost.
Ray-zing Awareness: Sharks and Rays of Victoria
Dr Sam Sherman
(Senior Lecturer, Deakin University)
Sam will be talking about the diversity, ecological roles, and movement of sharks and rays in Victoria. She will go through the research methods she uses to monitor sharks and rays including videos, tags, biological samples, genetics, and more. Sam will also talk about the impacts of fisheries and extinction risk of the local sharks and rays.
