Combining techniques to find missing persons

Searching for missing persons and locating covert burials is a difficult task. This talk will discuss how combining methods such as geographic profiling, 3D laser scanning, and geophysical techniques together increase our chances of finding them.

Tori is a forensic anthropologist and a PhD candidate at the University of Newcastle. She is the recipient of a UoN Vice Chancellor PhD training scholarship and a doctoral fellowship from SSHRC. Tori is also a casual academic teaching Criminology

The media and missing persons investigations

This talk will discuss the power of the media in missing persons investigations, and outline advanced DNA technologies that can assist. Case studies will be used as examples of good practice and where lessons have been learnt.

Xanthe completed a PhD in forensic science in 2007, and is now a lecturer in forensic science and criminology - combining the fields of physical and social sciences. She is also a television presenter, author, and news commentator on true crime.
