Exciting New Chapter: Meet the New Co-CEOs of Pint AU
A message from the outgoing CEOs Maria and Jin-Oh
After a long search for our successors, we are so excited to introduce our community to Dr Anna Oszmiana and Brett van der Leest as the next Co-Chief Executive Officers of Pint of Science Australia!

Anna has been an active researcher for over a decade, studying how our bodies work and develop, and a passionate science communicator for just as long.
“I’m endlessly inspired by how science continues to push the boundaries of what we know and improve our lives. This sense of wonder is what drives my passion for science outreach — connecting science with the community, sparking curiosity, and making research accessible to everyone. As a new Co-CEO of Pint of Science Australia, I’m excited to help bring the cutting edge ideas out of the lab and into the community.”
Meanwhile Brett, HR Manager by profession, enjoys helping people reach their potential by creating environments where they feel empowered and supported, and loves understanding how things work.
“That’s why I get excited about science, through the research, discovery, and deeper understanding it brings. Everyone is curious about something, and the beauty of science is that it touches every part of our lives. By helping people explore and better understand the world through science, we can grow together and connect in ways we may not have realised.”
The handover commences
The four of us are working together on a smooth leadership transition to enable the successful delivery of the 2025 Pint of Science festival (of which the preparation by our volunteer teams all across the country is well underway - you all rock!) and beyond.
Serving as Co-CEOs of Pint AU has been a remarkable experience, a pleasure and a privilege. We’ve worked with, and learnt from, an incredible community of volunteers and collaborators across the country! Thank you all for your dedication and passion.
We can’t wait to see you continue to thrive under the new leadership by Brett and Anna, and to work together to make this year’s festival (May 19 - 21, 2025) a success.
