The diet of microbes and their favourite foods

Like us, microbes need to eat. The question is, what? Using DNA sequencing and computational simulations, we predicted the nutrients bacteria use for growth and survival. It turns out, bacteria which cause disease in humans appear to chow down on nutrients found in the human body and are picky eaters!

Tackling Tuberculosis: a vaccine to be TB-free

Tuberculosis remains one of the biggest threats to global health today. This is in part due to a lack of effective ways to fight the disease, such as tests and vaccines. Catriona shares her work to develop a desperately needed new vaccine.
