The cost of convenience

Associate Professor Andy Le Brocque (Associate Professor (Ecology & Sustainability), University of Southern Queenaland)
If you think fast food is a cheap option, think again! Tonight we'll unwrap the unappetising facts about the environmental cost of fast food, and chip away at the greasy question, 'Can banning the burger save the planet?'

Associate Professor Le Brocque is an expert in biodiversity and sustainability, with a long career in research and publication. He currently teaches courses in ecology, conservation biology, environmental science and sustainability at the University of Southern Queensland.

Hidden treasures: digging up dirt on the past

Ms Loraine Watson-Fox (PhD Candidate, University of Queensland)
You’ve heard about treasures found buried in the dirt somewhere in the world. Did you know that sediments can reveal other stories? Hidden treasures are helping scientists to reconstruct past environments and predict the effects of climate change.

Loraine Watson-Fox has a diverse research background including molecular archaeology, plant genetics, agricultural science, ancient DNA and lab management. Her research uses plant microfossils and geochemistry to study past wetland vegetation and environments.
