Join us at the Brat Cave for an excellent talk on environmentally-friendly aquaculture and how ancient DNA can help us understand sharks better (no demo sharks, sorry). Try your hand at trivia for a chance to win Pint swag. If you're hungry, Brat Haus has the best brat in Bris. Come along, drink up, think up!

Fishing for solutions on aquaculture

Dr Paula Lima (Postdoctoral Fellow, CSIRO)
I will discuss how scientific knowledge can be employed to alleviate environmental concerns often associated with aquaculture practices and, therefore, contribute to a more sustainable source of food production.

Genojaws: Using aDNA for shark conservation

Dani Davenport (PhD Student, University of Queensland)
I will discuss how 'ancient' genomic DNA extracted from jaws, teeth and bones is helping us to understand the past, present and future population dynamics of the ocean's top apex predator, the great white shark.
