An industrial-chic creative community space in Newcastle that’s offered up A Pint of Science three years running. With a gigantic concrete bar in the centre, The Edwards food + drink offerings are *chef kissy fingers*. Share plates, burgers, bar grub, and more can be washed down with a wide array of beer, wine, cider and cocktails. We love The Eddies and we’re stoked that they love hosting Pint Of Science year-after-year. Doors open at 6pm, and the event kicks off at 6.30pm - but feel free to have a drink or nibble in the main restaurant if you get there early.

Dr Glenn Platt (Research Director, CSIRO)
I will discuss some of the latest trends in our energy world, and what it might mean for us all.

Why can’t we be friends?

Dr Jessica Allen (Lecturer, University of Newcastle)
Battle lines are clear between advocates of renewables and the mining/ fossil fuel industry. The message is if you are not with us, you are against us. But technology from both fields is needed as we transition towards a sustainable energy future.

What we can learn from unnatural disasters

Dr Jason von Meding (Senior Lecturer, University of Newcastle)
My presentation will focus on the structural injustice that is built into our societies and how the resulting "unnatural" disasters impact the most marginalized disproportionately. In the midst of trauma, we see the best of human "nature".
