Can smart phones help those who suffer diseases like diabetes and heart disease? How do shiny mirrors aid our quest in cosmic exploration? Toowoomba's Irish Club Hotel will have pint's filled with science, exploring smartphone technologies use in disease management and what shiny things astronomers use to allow us to explore the universe from the comfort of our own planet.

Dr Marlien Varnfield (Research Team Leader, CSIRO)
I will show how smartphone apps, monitoring devices and the Internet are used to remotely help manage people living with chronic conditions. This include heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes and chronic pain.
