Do you need anti-ageing treatments for your blood clot? How about using nanotech to ferry cancer drugs to their destination?  Join us for tonight’s exploration of cutting-edge technologies in medical science. Come and join us upstairs at HPH for a Pint of Science! Please note that this event is for those aged 18 years and above.

Stroke: a race against the clot

Dr Andre Samson (Postdoctoral Scientist at Heart Research Institute)

The ability to degrade a stroke-causing clot drops over time. We have uncovered how clots age and new data to suggest that a “clot anti-ageing drug” may be a potent means to improve stroke therapy.

Nano-cures for Cancer

Dr Joshua McCarroll (Children's Cancer Institute / Australian Centre for Nanomedicine, UNSW Sydney)

Cancer is a major cause of illness and death worldwide. My presentation will focus on our work which uses tiny chemically engineered nanoparticles to deliver therapeutic drugs directly to cancer cells.
